Keto Diet Weight Loss Results - April 2016


Starting Weight: 152 lbs

Ending Weight: 147 lbs

Monthly Weight Loss: 5 lbs

Total Weight Loss (Since 11/1/2015): 29 lbs


My monthly carbohydrate intake was once again higher this month at about 55 grams/day.

I say that with a chuckle, because before I started with the keto diet, I’d routinely eat that many carbs in a 2-minute span.

As expected, my exercise level has been higher than ever since tracking my food and distance walked. In April, this was at 3.6 miles per day, more than 1/2 mile extra compared to the previous two months.

This is directly related to the weather getting nicer. The older I get, the more I dislike cold weather, and it shows by my lack of physical activity during the colder months of the year.

enzo-puppy-parkWe’re also entering my sister’s busy travel season at work, which means I’m on puppy duty for more than half of the next 30 days.

I have to say, this has been one of my best months.

Maybe it’s the fact that I’m truly in the best shape of my life, and maybe it’s that I’m so confident in my dietary choices, but it’s beginning to seem “effortless”.

I put that in quotes because there are ALWAYS moments of weakness. I believe in balance, and if you have a great meal with your family that is carb-heavy, don’t let that curb your long-term progress.

However, I truly think I could stop tracking my calories and understand the portions and foods I should be eating to maintain my weight.

The last time I lost weight on the slow-carb diet, I fell apart over the holiday season.

This time around, I started the keto diet with those distractions, plus the cold weather of winter.

Now that it’s warming up, I truly feel like this summer will be an opportunity to achieve better body composition than I could have ever imagined.


Keto Camping Grilled Pork and Squash

  • My buddies and I brewed beer for the first time in 2.5 years! (won’t be ready for another 4-6 weeks)
  • I got 2 cubic yards of compost delivered for my garden = backyard exercise
  • Took my sister’s pup to the dog park twice
  • Major cheat on 4/20 – brownie (not weed) and cheese danish
  • Went camping at Parvin State Park in NJ from 4/22 to 4/24 (grilled pork loin pictured)
