Without really trying, I averaged 1734 calories per day in December compared to 1733 per day in November with almost the exact same macro nutrient breakdown.
Given the elephant in the room this month – Christmas and New Years – I wanted to be strict the first few weeks. Especially coupled with Thanksgiving a few weeks prior.
You can see that I kept carbs under 25 grams total (including fiber) 5 out of the first 6 days of the month.
The end of the month was a different story – I already made the decision to eat whatever I wanted on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve is one of our biggest family events during the year, and Christmas Day we have breakfast at my sister’s house including french toast, so I wasn’t going to deprive myself considering the short-term progress.
Ultimately, it didn’t set me back that much and my downward weight loss trend continued a week after this stretch.
- I traveled to New York on 12/20 for a baptism and ate carbs at the reception buffet, but it was my only meal of the day
- Christmas Eve dinner included: salmon, crab cakes, tomato pie, shrimp, pineapple stuffing, beer, cookies, chocolates (well worth it)
- Christmas Day involved two cheat meals, breakfast and dinner with my family
- I didn’t drink alcohol on NYE, but had a sweet craving and made chocolate coconut walnut balls with sweetened condensed milk
